explaining results; education session by our Certified Industrial Hygienist who can also
evaluate the work site for proper engineering controls, proper use of personal
protection equipment and hygiene controls.
A note about lead exposure:
All workers exposed to lead must be medically monitored, per OSHA law. This means
they must have blood drawn on a regular basis to test for lead content in their blood.
The OHCC’s medical staff is available to go on site and draw blood and then send it to
a laboratory for analysis. Writing each worker a letter giving his/her lead level with
an interpretation of the results is also included. OHCC is also available for follow-up
care, if necessary.
Some of the groups we have medically monitored for lead include:
Painters
Iron Workers
Laborers
Our Industrial Hygienist is also available to work with contracts, employers, and
workers to develop good engineering controls including use of personal protective
equipment, proper hygiene and other methods to reduce exposure to lead.
The Occupational Health Clinical Center offers screening services. Some screenings
are mandatory regulated by OSHA or PESH, and must be offered by the employer.
The most common mandatory screenings include workers exposures to:
Asbestos
Silica
Lead
Hazardous waste
Conditions requiring the use of respiratory equipment (i.e.: Firefighters)
